5 Sure Shot Ways To Quick Recovery After Long Runs (10 -12 miles)

I have often been asked by treadmill runners of ways to speed up recovery after a long run. I have always found myself at loss for moments because there is not an only method. There are loads of ways in which one can recover from a long treadmill or outdoor run and each one has our favourite one that works best for us. I generally give out my personal favourites, cover a few others, and hope that they will soon discover their own success. Here is an outline of what works with most of us for runs that max 10 – 12 miles. Post-run recovery should be and is very different for marathon runners.

Bowflex TC5000 TreadClimber

At the beginning of this week, I want to cover a hybrid fitness machine – the treadclimber. Though I have covered the treadclimber machine in one of my posts earlier, I would like to review the Bowflex TC5000 this turn.

Before I begin, I want to run a recap of how a treadclimber works. A Treadclimber is 3 machines rolled into one – the treadmill, a stairclimber /stepper and an elliptical. The Bowflex TC5000 TreadClimber has 2 treads (one tread is similar to the tread of a treadmill), each one capable of rising one at a time. On the outer side of the treads are sideboards that allow you to switch from one mode to the other without having to get off the machine. So effectively, you have a stairclimber. You can even fix an elevation and use it as a treadmill. Here are the specifications on the Bowflex TC5000 Treadclimber.

Plantar Fasciitis/Dog’s Heel and How You Can Overcome It

Hi. Today I am going to cover a condition that often afflicts treadmill runners, trail and runners of every terrain – the plantar fasciitis aka a dog’s heel. I would have come across it in due course of study and would have left it at that, but I experienced this first hand. The plantar fascia is located in our heels. The Wikipedia Commons image below exhibits it clearly:

Vitamins B-A-D Are Good For You

Hi again. Though all vitamins (A, B, C, D, E, H and K) are essential for us to remain and function at our optimum health levels, Vitamins A, B (B1, B2, B3, B6, and B12) and D are especially important to the strength trainers and those who work out on a regular basis.

Vitamins are basically organic in nature and aid in the performance a number of biochemical functions in the body. They help trigger necessary chemical reactions. They are essentially micronutrients (required in very small quantities).

I have put together a list of the A, B, D Vitamins ( + 3 other vitamins as bonus) to showcase why they are important for all of us who train at least thrice a week, what their RDA values are and what are the good sources from where they may be had. No vitamins/supplements should be taken without consulting a doctor.

Fats Are Good And Essential For You

Hi. Today we shall take a look at fat from a different perspective. I say ‘different’ because fat 9 times out of 10 is written about with a tone of shedding, burning, losing and the like as though it is a non-requirement by the body. We are given some fat content in our bodies for a reason else evolution would have done away with it.
